PUERTO RICO INDEPENDENT BASEBALL LEAGUE
The Puerto Rico Independent Baseball League (PRIBL) is a professional development league based in Puerto Rico. It provides aspiring players with a unique opportunity to advance their careers. As the first independent professional league in Puerto Rican baseball history, PRIBL is designed to serve as a vital stepping stone for players striving to reach Major League Baseball (MLB).
PRIBL is the only independent league that operates during the fall and spring seasons, ensuring a high caliber of competition. This distinct schedule draws numerous MLB scouts and independent professional league teams searching for talented players.
The league comprises a diverse group of athletes: lesser-known prospects eager to launch their professional careers, international players looking to break into the U.S. market, and affiliated Minor League players aiming to prove they still have the skills to continue their journey in professional baseball.
The Puerto Rico Independent Baseball League's roots trace back several years when its founder, Carlos Nuñez, sought to create a winter-season league that provided consistent playing opportunities for developing players. One of Mr. Nuñez's primary motivations was to address the gap in player development. He believes that summer-only leagues do not offer enough of a platform for players to achieve the consistency MLB teams require.
PRIBL MISSION: Our mission is to establish a sustainable, one-of-a-kind league in Puerto Rico that fosters the holistic development of baseball players, promotes excellence, integrity, and professionalism, and makes a positive impact on the international baseball community.
2025 OPENING DATE: To Be Announced
REGULAR SEASON: Each team plays 24 games during the regular season.
PLAYOFFS FORMAT: The top three teams qualify for the playoffs. The first-place team advances directly to the finals. The second and third-place teams face off in a one-game elimination match, with the winner moving on to the finals to compete in a best-of-three series for the PRIBL Championship.
ROSTER LIMIT: Each team may have up to 24 active players.
